Canadians! We have a reputation for caring about one another. When someone goes missing in our communities, we all know someone who knows the family, and we all hope for a positive outcome; that someone, somewhere, will find them.
Finding a lost person involves more than the police or fire department. It takes a whole team of people working together. SARVAC is an organization of over nine thousand (9,000) volunteers who dedicate their lives to this service. The emergent nature of a lost situation demands that we have trained people with cutting-edge technology, training, and equipment ready and available to deploy at a moment’s notice. Our volunteers give on average over six-hundred-thousand (600,000) hours a year in training and searching.
This support does not come at little cost. That is why we come to you, our neighbours and friends. At the time of crisis, many ask, “What can we do to help?” Our answer is to please donate! We have a team of willing, dedicated volunteers, but we need the funds to allow them to do their job. Lives depend on it!
Please donate as you are able. If you would like to do more, consider leaving a gift in your will. We can work with you to accept bequests of mutual funds or publicly traded stocks. SARVAC can be named a beneficiary of RRSP’s, RRIF’s, pension plans, or even an existing or specially-dedicated life insurance policy. You can honour a loved one through your legacy gift.
Please encourage your family members to contribute through their wills, too. Ask your estate planner to mention it to others. Together we can be a crucial lifeline to missing children, people in crisis, and the elderly in our communities.
